New for 2017, the Memorial Day Veterans 10k & 5k Race will add a virtual race for those who want to make a difference in the lives of our veterans, but cannot participate in the live race on Memorial Day.
Virtual races have become a popular way for runners and walkers around world to show support for charitable causes of their choice without having to attend the live race in person. Virtual races also promote a sense of camaraderie for participants who live in remote areas, are deployed, out of town for the holiday weekend or who are just more comfortable running or walking on their own. Virtual racers run or walk on an honor system. They may complete their chosen distance prior to the race, on race day or even after the race.
Participants who register for the virtual component of the Memorial Day Veterans 10k & 5k Race will receive the same registration perks as live runners, such as a race t-shirt and medal. In addition, virtual racers will be able to customize and print their race bib from home. Virtual racers will not be included in the official race day results, but we encourage virtual participants to buddy-up with friends, family or co-workers and create a little friendly competition of their own!
Registration for the virtual component of the Memorial Day Veterans 10k and 5k Race will open in tandem with registration for the live race. Additional details regarding the virtual race will be available at that time.
