It’s Our Turn, Inc. announces the opening of the Memorial Day Veterans 10K & 5K Race registration on January 1, 2021 with new and important updates!
The City of Punta Gorda has informed our race directors that permits are being issued for events that submit a safe social distancing action plan. The Memorial Day Race committee, made-up of runners and Veterans, has been working hard to re-envision the hometown racing experience!
That said, there will be some big changes for the 2021 Memorial Day Veterans 10K & 5K Race.
Introducing the VIP Memorial Day Veterans 10K & 5K Race—
The VIP race is a live, physical race limited to 300 runners! Enjoy the comradery, patriotism, and military flair that everyone has grown to love from the Memorial Day Veterans 10K & 5K Race!
The Virtual Memorial Day Veterans 10K & 5K Race—
The virtual race is open to an unlimited number of runners locally and worldwide! Run anywhere, anytime convenient for you. Support our Veterans and receive a race packet with a shirt and finisher’s medal in the mail. Registration fee includes the shipping cost of each race packet.

- VIP Race – 300 Runners (Price $100)
- Virtual Race – Unlimited Runners (Price $40)
- New Race Route for VIP Runners
- Vietnam Theme – A Portion of Proceeds will go to Veteran Suicide Prevention

The Cause and Race Theme
Our Veterans have sacrificed so much for this country, fallen on hard times, and are now dealing with the physical, mental, and financial stress of the COVID-19 virus. They need us now more than ever. That is why this year’s theme is honoring our Vietnam Veterans and we will concentrate on Veteran suicide prevention.
Today, you have the option to choose one of the following:
- Run the Virtual Memorial Day Veterans 10K & 5K Race – Run your registered distance anytime, anywhere you choose. Virtual runners receive a Vietnam themed gender specific tech race shirt and finisher medal in the mail.
Or… - Run the VIP Memorial Day Veterans 10K & 5K Race – Enjoy the comradery, patriotism, and military flair that everyone has grown to love about the Memorial Day Veterans 10K & 5K Race!

What about the Space Force theme?
Before COVID-19, the Space Force theme sure sounded like a fun idea! However, we will not be moving forward with the Space Force theme for the 2021 race. There is no question that this has been a challenging year for everyone, and this challenging time includes our Veterans. This year, we will honor our Vietnam Veterans and concentrate on Veteran suicide prevention.
